The members of No Doubt prepare a new album and wait on Gwen Stefani's return.
Guitarist Tom Dumont told MTV News that the rest of No Doubt have been preparing music for almost a year, conceding, "we have a lot of instrumentals looking for words." While Gwen Stefani's solo jaunt was meant to be a temporary side project, the success of her debut 'Love. Angel. Music. Baby' ensured that she would focus on another solo album.Stefani is currently tour her follow-up 'The Sweet Escape'. Dumont speculated, "Gwen has a busy world tour all year, so obviously most of our writing this year would happen either separately or during a few off days here and there." He projects that a new No Doubt album won't see the light of day any earlier than the latter half of 2008.
While Stefani has been glamming it up with her solo work, the other members have kept busy. Dumont worked on side project Invincible Overlord and produced the debut and forthcoming Matt Costa albums. Bassist Tony Kanal worked on Stefani's album and produced Pepper and Elan. Drummer Adrian Young lent his skills to Bow Wow Wow on tour and Unwritten Law and Matt Costa in the studio.
