Powderfinger performed in Melbourne last night for the first time in over two years as part of their 'Dream Days At The Hotel Existence' tour.
The show showed off a whole bunch of songs off their new album, as well as a few classic hits, but one stand out song was when Bernard Fanning explained himself before playing 'Black Tears'.The band were forced to change the lyrics to that song to avoid prejudicing a trial that was still underway - something they agreed to.
Singer Bernard Fanning last night introduced the song saying "This song is about the disgraceful disadvantages of the aboriginal community.
"We were just trying to fuck with the justice system."
Other than that, the band went through much of the motions with no spectacular highlight. One punter was overheard commenting "If they were as good as they were on that last song ['Baby I Got You On My Mind'] for the whole set, they'd be great... as it is, they were, well, good."
Spot on, random punter, spot on.
