U2 premiered their 3D concert film 'U23D' at the Cannes Film Festival over the weekend.
The movie, directed by Catherine Owens and Mark Pellington, is the first U2 film since 1988's 'Rattle & Hum' to be shown in cinemas.Unlike 'Rattle and Hum' which was a documentary, 'U23D' is a concert movie.
The setlist features:
Vertigo
Beautiful Day
Sometimes You Can't Make it On Your Own
Love and Peace
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Bullet the Blue Sky
Miss Sarajevo
The Fly
With or Without You
The movie was filmed during U2's South America tour last year. 18 cameras were used. To create the effects, the directors shot a 'phantom show' featuring close-ups of the band with no audience on one night and another night featuring just close-ups of drummer Larry Mullen Jr.
In the audience for the premiere was U2 photographer Anton Corijn, who was in Cannes for the launch of his film about Joy Division's Ian Curtis called 'Control'.
U2 producer Daniel Lanois and filmmaker Wim Wenders also attended the premiere.
