Liam, son of Crowded House's Neil Finn, has completed his solo debut.
The album, titled 'I Am Lightning', was recorded over the New Zealand summer. He had spent the last few years heading up his band Betchadupa who had relocated to the UK. Finn returned to his home country to perform, engineer and produce the album, reportedly using a mixing desk once owned by The Who. The album is due out in July, with the first single 'Second Chance' due out in May.Finn appeared at Austin, Texas music conference South By Southwest in March but only performed one show, a well-received early afternoon solo slot. He also has been opening as support for a reformed Crowded House. He still fronts Betchadupa, although the band are still in the UK on a self-proclaimed 'holiday'.
Finn has been planning shows to introduce his solo work to the world. He brings the atmospheric acoustic and electronic material to London on May 16 and 17 before heading to Australia for two shows. He plays Sydney's Civic Hotel on May 24 and hot new Melbourne's bar The Toff In Town on May 29.
He has also confirmed a hometown show, playing Auckland's King's Arms on May 31.
