Green Day have been officially confirmed as part of the forthcoming 'Simpsons' movie.
Eagle-eyed viewers would've spotted a split-second appearance by the East Bay punk rockers in the trailer for the long-awaited 'Simpsons' movie. While 20th Century Fox and the band's label Reprise have been tight-lipped about their role, MTV News cornered 'Simpsons' creator Matt Groening at the 400th episode celebrations in LA."Green Day is in the movie , I will publicly acknowledge that Green Day are in the movie," Groening told MTV. "They're really good sports and I think we both honour them and 'Simpson'-ise them. You can take that however you want. They're really nice guys."
The only other information given was from Hank Azaria, who noted that his character Moe abuses the band while they perform and a whole crowd turns on them. Yeardley Smith, the voice of Lisa, told MTV even she wasn't aware that the band appeared.
The voice of Bart, Nancy Cartwright, noted that there were "close to 400" guest appearances, so we can forgive the actors for not being able to keep up, especially when the production is being kept so secret.
'The Simpsons Movie' will premiere on July 27.
