Animal-loving rock dinosaurs The Rolling Stones will relocate their upcoming show in Belgrade so as not to disrupt around 300 horses.
As previously reported, the Stones' first show in the Serbian capital was to take place at the Hippodrome, a large racetrack and the largest fenced space in the city, which is also the permanent home of the horses. It was suggested that the horses be sedated to prevent them from becoming distressed, but this plan was met with outrage by animal rights activists. Relocation of the horses was also ruled out.
So the Stones have asked organisers to relocate the entire show. Raka Maric, manager of Music Star Productions told the Reuters news agency, "The concert will not take place on the Hippodrome. The Rolling Stones' band members are great animal lovers. We didn't manage to convince The Stones' management that the concert would not harm the horses."
It is believed the concert will relocate to Usce Park, a large open space where the Sava and Danube Rivers meet.
