Amy Lee might continue recording under the brand-power of the name Evanescence but for all intents and purposes, Evanescence is over.
The turbulence created by the departure years ago by Ben Moody (Amy told Undercover before she told the world) continued this week with the sacking of guitarist John LeCompt and withdrawal of drummer Rocky Gray.LeCompt and Gray were both original members of Evanescence.
John wrote 'Taking Over Me' on the 'Fallen' album and 'All That I'm Living For' on the current record 'The Open Door'.
He said at a posting on his blog that he found out he was fired in a phone call from Amy Lee. This call wasn't from a friend who appreciated me but from an enemy who was prepared to hurt me and my family. Without any warning or negotiations for my future, I was fired for no good reason. We have not always seen eye to eye on everything, but who does?
Evanescence is due to commence a US tour on May 19 in Columbus followed by select dates in Europe and then join Korn's Family Values tour.
Fans may be wise to prepare for an Amy solo show and backing band performing under the name Evanescence.
