Roadrunner's modern rock shining lights The White Room get snuffed out.
Formerly known as Plunja, Geelong quartet The White Room will no longer continue as a band, but it looks like the split was magnanimous. According to a press release, two members "paths are leading in a different direction" to that of the others.Over the eight years The White Room developed a cult following for their powerful melodic rock and signed to Roadrunner Records as a flagship Australian act. They completed national tours as well as a national support for radio rock giants Nickelback. Their debut album, 'White Room Music' was released in August 2006.
Singer guitarist Marc Collis promises to continue writing music and will showcases new projects on www.myspace.com/reverendmayhemproductions. Bass player Barry Brauer will stay in the industry, managing and booking bands, releasing compilations and putting together music events through his Black Serenade Music organisation. Drummer Steph Collis is going back to studies but will continue to write music. Guitarist Ben Jarvis also returns to study.
Fans will get one last chance to experience their meaty rock, at the Barwon Club in their hometown of Geelong. They'll play on July 6, with "special guest bands" supporting.
