Three quarters of the Red Hot Chili Peppers played a free street gig in Melbourne on Wednesday.
Flea, Chad Smith and John Frusciante were joined by keyboardist Josh Klinghoffer for the thirty minute set at the city's Federation Square, just before the band's concert at the Myer Music Bowl.Around three-thousand people witnessed the set, which saw Flea swap his bass for a trumpet. Billed as a reinterpretation of the music of Mozart, the uninterrupted set was more of a freewheeling, jazz-influenced psych-funk jam.
The performance was filmed, and will feature on a drum technique DVD featuring Chad Smith. The DVD will be released through Melbourne drum retailer Drumtek.
