Ohio garage two piece The Black Keys are gearing up to release an album with soul legend Ike Turner.
The as yet untitled album will be billed as Ike Turner and The Black Keys and will be produced by prodigious beatlord Dangermouse.Drummer Patrick Carney told American site Pitchfork, "We're writing the songs. Dan is going to write lyrics, and then Ike and Danger Mouse and Dan will go through lyrics together. We will bring a structured song to them, and then Danger Mouse is going to produce it and Ike is going to sing on it and also play guitar and organ and piano."
The album is expected to see Ike bending more towards the Black Keys sound than the other way around.
It will be the fifth Black Keys album and a welcome change from their sound. Ike Turner is credited with writing "the first ever rock 'n' roll song" (according to Sam Phillips and others), 'Rocket 88' which was recorded in Sun Studios with his Kings of Rhythm.
The song was later covered by hundreds of artists.
After the occasional solo outing, Dangermouse found himself as half of Gnarls Barkly, an experimental compilation that had massive success with their debut album 'St. Elsewhere'. Recently he produced The Good, The Bad and The Queen's debut album.
