One fan of Alanis Morissette's Black Eyed Peas parody 'My Humps' is BEP singer Fergie.
It has been reported that Fergie has sent Alanis a bunch of flowers congratulating her on the video. The video, which appeared unannounced in YouTube this week, features Alanis singing a ballad version of the Black Eyed Peas hit. The clip sends up the Fergie moves and the slower version highlights the silly lyrics of the song.
Despite the song generating more than one million views in just a few days, Alanis is remaining quiet about it. She has not issued a statement or spoken to the press about why she recorded the song.
However, music industry commentator Bob Lefsetz points out, because the song is featured in a video, Alanis' lawyers would have had to have had permission because of synch rights.
A Lefsetz reader wrote to Bob with further information. Michael Friedman says that the video was shot for less than $2000 at Alanis' house in front of a white backdrop.
With no word from Alanis, the speculation is running high as to why she made the clip. One gossip site suggests it is a stab at her ex-fiance Ryan Reynolds for running off with Jessica Biel.
However, the one true fact in the matter is that Alanis made the video available on April Fool's Day. Maybe it is just her little joke with the industry.
