Melbourne three-piece The Basics are set to embark on a tri-state east coast tour which belies their name.
Throughout the month of April, they'll be playing every Tuesday in Sydney, every Wednesday in Brisbane and every Thursday in Melbourne. That's four gigs in each city over four weeks.Speaking to Undercover, drummer Wally de Backer - who moonlights as AMP-nominated artist Gotye - explained that the tour will consist of "Lots of flights, and lots of driving. We've worked out some crazy way whereby I'll maybe drive my second drumkit, and leave it in Sydney for a month with my car. Then we'll fly to Brisbane, borrow gear in Brisbane, and maybe hire some other stuff in Sydney."
Bassist / vocalist Kris Schroeder continued, "For April, we're gonna be doing more running around than we are playing."
We asked Schroeder if he also harboured any solo project ambitions, though he seems happy pursuing The Basics for the time being.
"From a personal point of view, the Basics is my musical ambition," he said. "Before I got into music, I was doing film, so if had some spare time I'd concentrate on doing something in that realm rather than getting any sort of solo project off the ground. I'm pretty satisfied with what I'm doing with The Basics."
The band are launching their album 'Stand Out / Fit In', released across Australia on May 5.
