QMF WINTER WARMUP - ARTISTS ANNOUNCED

Darren Percival

After his astounding appearances on The Voice Australia Series 1 in 2012 and following the success of his album Happy Home, Darren Percival returns to Queenscliff for a special solo one off show in June and then for 2 special sets with his band at the Festival in November.
Prior to The Voice, Darren was an independent musician with a loyal fan base. With over twenty years of
professional musical experience, he has created a reputation as one of the leading vocalists in the country.  He is respected by his peers and enjoys an abundant career in music.  His pedigree is impeccable having studied under some of our greatest vocalists; including Kerrie Biddell, Alan Dean and Bobby McFerrin. He played clubs and pubs and was a much indemand vocalist, touring and recording with the best artists and musicians in the business. Continue reading...

After forming in Melbourne 2010, as a bunch of friends messing around in the studio under the guidance of band leader Jarrad Brown, Eagle and the Worm spent 2011 on the road; performing around Australia and Europe on the back of what became their
critically acclaimed debut album "GoodTimes" "Without a doubt a flawless debut 10/10- AU Review"

Blending styles into a party stage show- mashing pop music, 60's vocal harmonies, songs, jams, 3 piece horn section…The EATW road train has been hard at work for the last year- Collaborating with the likes of Hypnotic Brass Ensemble (Chicago), Big Freedia (New Orleans), and Milwaukee MC Juiceboxxx; as well as taking their 8 piece band to some of the countries best festivals and clubs; Big Day Out, Meredith, Bluesfest, Falls Festival.  EMPRA

Driven by the rock'n'roll spirit, EMPRA are riding a wave of buzz across Australia and the world. After completing a massive 24 date Australian tour they had a successful stintin LA where they were crowned the winners of the Livenation International Band Competition. Their debut self titled album released in May 2012 has since spawned four singles which hit high rotation on
Triple M’s Radar Rock, Radar Music & 23 community radio shows Australia wide. The album also featured three time Grammy award winner Gotye whose soaring keyboards can be heard on the epic ballad
“Sabrina”. The album was inspired by a chain of events including broken hearts, broken bones, friends loved and lost and a botched album recording on the first try!  Continue reading...

 Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk

Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk play low down, down home, Juke Joint blues. For two and a half years, Chicken Walk was just Chris playing solo with just an open tuned sea foam green Danelectro and a Goldentone reverbmaster for company on stage. His annual pilgrimages with his wife to the Mississippi Delta facilitated his evolution from sitting in with the local living masters, to performing the prized Juke Joints with Cadillac John Nolden, The Corn Lickers, Cameron Kimbrough and Lightnin’ Malcolm.

The first time I hopped off the bus in Clarksdale, Mississippi, I looked around me. I could see fields
of cotton, corn and beans. It was so hot the crops were shimmering. The earth had such a presence that I could hear music in the silence. It was of musicians from this area – from Muddy Waters to Robert ‘Wolfman’ Belfour, had plugged their guitars straight into the soil and blues had  come pouring out.
” – Chris Russell

In December 2011, Chicken Walk grew to two-piece feed’, adding Dean Muller (Hoss, Cosmic Psychos) on drums and this newly evolved duo’s live sound begun filling rooms with hypnotic boogie and pulsating Northern Mississippi Hill Country Blues. They have since shared the stage with the likes of Graveyard Train, Old Gray Mule and perennial festival favourite Gary Clark Jr. Continure reading...

The Frowning Clouds

Off the back of a European tour and a coveted spot on the prestigious Dig It Up Festival, The Frowning Clouds are set to release new 7” single, ‘Propellers/Bad Vibes’. They play the Queenscliff Music Festival for the very first time.

Like, ‘All Night Long’ which received airplay on Triple J and community radio nationally, ‘Propellers’ oozes
with the hip shakin’, sing-along goodness that the boys from Geelong do so well. Produced by Owen Penglis (Straight Arrows, Royal Headache), ‘Propellers’ is the second single to be taken from their forthcoming album ‘Paper Jungle’.

You can't help but scratch your head in wonder at the musicianship and feel for the inspired 60's style
tunes they belt out with so much precision and depth for persons so young.
