Having recently announced a national album launch tour, singer-songwriter and slide guitar virtuoso Owen Campbell’s career continues to flourish, with today’s news that his yet-to-be released sophomore album, “The Pilgrim” has joined his 2012 album, “Sunshine Road” in the Top 10 iTunes Blues Album Charts in Australia.
Scheduled for release on June 7, “The Pilgrim” has reached the No. 7 position, directly above “Sunshine Road” which sits at No. 8, having enjoyed Top 10 status for the past 12 months.
Owen is currently on the road, taking his full band around the country.
Folk/country songstress on the rise, Annabelle Kay is special guest at his east coast shows.
Produced by the eminent Mark Opitz, “The Pilgrim”, is an impressive collection of self-penned tracks from Owen Campbell, who has been playing guitar since he was nine years old and is one of Australia’s most talented slide guitar players and songwriters, with his gravelly blend of blues, roots, soul and country, and a voice that belies his 28 years.Along with his unflinching ability to sing it sweet and play it dirty, he creates a perfect blend of melody that’s simple but right, as is the way with the blues… Campbell combines a moving, gutsy, old time sound that marries authenticity with incredible energy.
After reaching No. 1 on the iTunes charts last year, Owen’s debut album titled “Sunshine Road” has spent over 12 months in the Australian iTunes Blues Charts, twice reaching the No. 1 position and achieving Top 10 status in the ARIA charts as well as charting in the Top 5 in five different countries, also reaching No. 1 in New Zealand, Norway, Denmark and Sweden. The album continues to achieve Top 10 status in numerous countries around the world.
Tickets to Owen Campbell’s “The Pilgrim Tour” are now on sale.
