The Sugar Mountain Festival brings the most exciting new local and international art and music to Melbourne.
The new festival is an amalgam of music and visual arts from Australia and around the world, including the US, Denmark, Canada, and New Zealand.
International visitors include Brooklyn experimentalists Aa, Canada’s avante pop act No Kids, Kiwi garage punk heroes The Coolies, Austin art-pop duo Yellow Fever, and Chicago deep house impresarios Virgo Four.
Then there’s lauded local indie acts: beatmaker Galapagoose, synth-led kooks No Zu, widescreen pop outfit Brous, art-pop trio Otouto, dusky psych act Canyons, noise faves Rat Vs Possum, trippy beatmaking ex-pat Young Magic, lo-fi quintet Twerps and heaps more.
But this is barely the beginning, since there will be a cavalcade of visual art at the festival too, from US artists Thomas Campbell, Alex Kopps, Charlie Callahan, Cody Hudson, David Potes, Jay Howell, Katrine Hildebrandt, Kelsey Brookes, Kyle Field, Mark Warren Jacques, Mel Kadel, Mike Perry, Monica Canilao, Nat Russell, Neil Krug, Ryan Jacob Smith, Ryan Tatar, Steven Harrington, not to mention Stefan Marx from Denmark, and Australian artists galore.
There’s only so much we can show here, so head to their dot com at www.sugarmountainfestival.com/ to get a taste of all the artists and musicians involved.
The immersive experience happens on Saturday April 30 throughout the gorgeous surrounds of The Forum.
