presented by musicNSW & AAM

MusicNSW, in partnership with the Association Of Artist Managers (AAM), is proud to present our latest free workshop: “Artist Management: What It Means Today”, held at 6.30pm on Tuesday 7 May at The Basement.

For professional musicians, a skillful artist manager is a must. A good manager will nurture clients’ talent, negotiate business deals, and build from the ground up to create viable, long-term careers. With several of our top acts between them, four of Australia’s leading managers will come together to share expertise, discuss current industry trends, and look at what it means to be a manager in 2013 – one of the
most dynamic jobs in music.

The workshop will also see the launch of the AAM Patron Program, which  ecognises and celebrates ex-Board members, foundation members and important people of the AAM as top line commentators.

“The AAM in it’s short history has managed to carve itself out as the peak  body and most relevant voice for issues relating to Artist Management in Australia” says current chair Cath Haridy “This is due in large part toour new Patron’s who each sat on the AAM Board in it’s early years.

“We are excited to be bringing them together with MusicNSW, for one of the  first comphrehensive looks at what it means to be a manager in Australia today. “ Haridy said.

Panelists for “Artist Management: What It Means Today” are:Cath Haridy (Catherine Haridy Management):

Bob Evans, Adalita, Eskimo Joe, The Chemist + more: from sourcing bands as  A&R Manager for major labels Warner Music and Festival Mushroom to  her role in various advocacy issues (she’s the Chairperson of AAM),
Cath’s career has run the full gamut of the local music industry.

 Gregg Donovan (Wonderlick Entertainment):

Artists such as Grinspoon, Josh Pyke, Boy & Bear, Airbourne and Marvin  Priest to name a few all rely on this former tour manager’s business  acumen. Via his company Wonderlick, Gregg’s also created new
opportunities for his acts via deals with EMI Publishing and Sony Music  Australia.

 Michael McMartin (Melody Management):

Former Exec Director of the International Music Manager’s Forum, Michael  received APRA’s prestigious Ted Albert award for outstanding  contribution to Australian Music in 2007, and has steered the career of  one of nation’s most successful bands for 30 years – the Hoodoo Gurus.

 Heath Bradby (The Fidelity Corporation):

In his role as MD of management company Fidelity Corp, Heath looks after  the careers of Karnivool, Downsyde and Papa vs Pretty. In between, he  also finds the time to work with a plethora of artists in his role as
Head of A&R at Warner Music Australia.
