SxSW's must attend event, Australian Music Collectives' Aussie BBQ was again a SxSW highlight.
The rock solid line-up of Australian bands performing at the BBQ in Brush Square Park, Austin would have qualified as a sell-out Australian tour back on home turf.Over beers and sausage sangers, more than 2,000 SxSW attendees rocked up for the likes of Hoodoo Gurus, Airbourne, Beasts of Bourbon, You Am I, SPOD, Children Collide, I Heart Hiroshima, The Panda Band, Dallas Crane, Expatriate, Wolf and Cub and Mink.
Spotted in the crowd were actor Elijah Wood, digital media guru Ted Cohen, Warner's Michael Parisi, Immedia's Phil Tripp and Austrade's David Jamieson. Said one Parisi "I can't believe we are watching Hoodoo Gurus at a BBQ".
Australian Music Collective founders Glenn Dickie, Mary Mihelakos and Johanna Greenway were unanimous that the 2007 event was their most successful to date.
