Hot Australian talent headed to SXSW will also sizzle in New York and Los Angeles.
The Aussie BBQ has become legendary at Austin, Texas’ monumental music industry conference South By South West, showcasing the best of Australian talent.
For the last three years the organisers, Stage Mothers, have brought their showcase to New York and LA and this year’s travelling sideshow looks like the biggest ever.
The Aussie BBQ NYC kicks off on Sunday 13 March at the Bowery Ballroom, featuring: hip-hop titans Bliss N Eso, retro rockers Little Red, roots champs Blue King Brown, melodramatic tunesmiths The Jezabels, country kooks Wagons, indie poppers Hungry Kids Of Hungary, Paul Dempsey and his band, tropical pop sensation The Holidays, buzzsaw pop duo DZ Deathrays, plus Luluc, Drawn From Bees, Sampology and Grand Atlantic.
Then more acts ramble onto The Aussie BBQ in Los Angeles on Saturday 26 March at the Echo in Echo Park featuring: Hungry Kids Of Hungary, indie rockers The Novocaines, gal pop duo Dash & Will, the debut performance for “Dogs”, Wagons, guitar pop craftsmen The Boat People, rockabilly soul clique The Level Spirits, Grand Atlantic, Dan Brodie and The Grieving Widows, Andy Clockwise, Sampology and Maniac.
Both gigs start around lunchtime so get in early for a wide range of Australia’s finest up and comers. Tickets are available from the venues.
