Bastille have clinched the Official UK Albums Chart number 1 spot with debut album ‘Bad Blood’.
‘Bad Blood’ the debut album from UK neo-synth popsters delivering an indie, electro album of pop tunes with anthemic choruses. Singer and songwriter Dan Smith’s emotionally raw, soaring vocals backed up by drum machine beats and techno-fuzzy rhythms it’s fresh, rich with vibrancy and above all memorable.
The album had the highest digital share sales for a week one number one album of all time. The band’s new single ‘Pompeii’ stormed in to the UK top 40 singles chart last week charting at number 2 and is already shaping up to be a hit in Australia, with the track all over NOVA nationally.
Dan Smith and his band have taken a short break from their current UK tour to play a series of dates at SXSW this week. As the creative force behind Bastille much of Dan’s childhood was spent dreaming of being a film editor, a writer or a journalist, any profession in which he could tell a story.
Thanks to his musical talents, Smith is doing exactly what he always intended. He is making videos for his songs, reluctantly appearing in them too. Of the video for ‘Pompeii’ Smith said he was trying to make: "the novel 'I am Legend' if it were shot by 'Drive' director Nicolas Winding Refn.
