Following the success of his intimate headline dates in July 2012 Jamie xx announces shows for in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney this March and April.
The dates come as part of The xx’s latest Australian tour, where venue sold out in minutes and second shows added due to immense demand.
His first gig will be over the Easter long weekend - he’ll performing at Perth’s The Bakery on Sunday 31 March.
Jamie will also perform late shows in Melbourne on Friday 5April at the Prince Bandroom and Sydney on Saturday 6 April at the Metro Theatre. These two gigs follow the previously announced shows by The xx earlier in the evening, and he probably won’t be on stage until later. Despite his many talents he can’t be in two places at once!
The past few years have been meteoric for Jamie xx, who is one of the hottest producers around. In 2011 he crafted the underground winner 'Far Nearer' and teamed up with Gil Scott-Heron on the album We’re New Here, a re-envisioning Scott-Heron's I’m New Here. Jamie's accomplished remixes of ‘NY Is Killing Me’ and ‘I'll Take Care of U’ were so greatly admired they were reworked by Drake and Rihanna for their hit 'Take Care'. In 2011, Jamie also reworked Radiohead’s track ‘Bloom’ for their remix album TKOLRMX123456.
The xx have quickly become one of the most in demand acts on the planet, with 2012 seeing their second album Coexist reaching Gold sales in Australia and impressively debuting at number two on the ARIA charts, with similar chart-topping results around the globe.
