Perth rock ensemble Sons of Rico will be releasing their new record In Rico Glaciers on Friday 29 March through Firestarter Music and Inertia.
To go along with the release, the album will get its very own Australian tour. Undercover.fm have been infatuated since their EP Orange Skies and debut album Reactions and this latest offering has us wondering curiously what to expect from this latest album.
Music guru Magoo (Regurgitator, Art vs Science, Midnight Oil) waved his magic rock wand to create a recording that sees Sons of Rico come on stronger than ever before. And of all places you wouldn’t expect this sound to come – an old converted church. Following on from their first single ‘You Don’t Know What You’re Missin’, ‘I’m Not Thinkin’ About You’ has a sign along chorus that’s more than just dad-rock.
The line between indie and classic rock is as blurred as much as fellow Aussie rockers Jet could have hoped for but there are moments of ingenuity. Let’s just hope all that swagger, sass and attitude doesn’t go to their heads. Like a Deep Purple and Led Zep flavoured ice cream with a swirl of glam rock all that’s missing is the nuts and caramel. Maybe they’ll turn up when they’re on stage.
