After being accused for many years of grievous harm to popular music, Kid Rock now has a genuine physical assault allegation to deal with.
A woman is accusing the rap-rocker - real name Robert Ritchie - of assaulting her after she refused to spend the night with him. The two met in a bar in Oakland, California, where Ritchie invited the woman and her friend back to his home.Ritchie allegedly demanded that the woman spend the night with him. She says he became verbally aggressive as she attempted to leave. A police report suggests that as the unnamed woman made her way outside, Ritchie grabbed her by the neck and caused her to slam into her car before falling into a snow bank.
Ritchie has countered the allegation by claiming that she was the one being abusive, and threatened to charge him with physical assault if he asked her to leave. Police claim they could find no physical marks on the woman. No charges have been laid.
The woman's friend backs up her claim, whilst a friend of Ritchie is backing up his claim. An Oakland County police officer said in a statement, "At this point, we have two people who say one thing and two other people who say something else. Once the investigation is completed, a report will be given to the Oakland County prosecutor's office."
