Michael Gudinski of Frontier Touring has announced that Jimmy Barnes will be supporting Bruce Springsteen at the scheduled Hanging Rock show in Victoria.
REALLY? I'm just here to tell it like it is. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
Don't get me wrong, I love and support, support acts, however the opportunity to support someone like The Boss should have been given to someone more deserving and maybe "fresh" ? (If you want to complain that Bruce is not fresh either, then think about the fact that he has actually released a brand new album of relevant self-penned songs in 2012 and is currently performing a World Tour, that's fresh).
Enter second support act on the bill, the seemingly "can do no wrong" darlings of the time "The Rubens". Sure, they're good looking, competent musicians etc, but they lack any kind of electricity that generates an all powerful surge of SNAP, CRACKLE, POP , BANG SHANGA LANG and extravagantly exciting, mind blowing, bewilderment in the sensory organs.
In other news for Springsteen fans there will be no supports for the shows in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne due to the fact that The Boss is currently performing for around 3.5 hours per show. Woohoooooooooo!!!!!
The Hanging Rock gig will also be filmed and potentially released on DVD for fans that do not get tickets. Speaking of which presales for all of The Boss's Australian shows went sale on the 12th December at 12pm.
If you missed out on pre-sales, general tickets will be on sale at 9 am this Friday 14th December. You might want to get ready, prepared etc now. Are you, for example wearing NASA nappies so that you are able to to sit on your computer all night long and until 9 am Friday morning with your finger on the purchase trigger? Have you arranged a babysitter and some KFC for dinner? Eye on the prize Springsteen fans!
Just sayin'.
