English sap James Blunt has told MTV that his new album will be grittier and edgier.
The warbling singer songwriter has spent plenty of time trying to dirty up his romantic image since the worldwide success of his single 'You're Beautiful'. He's insisted in print that he's a big partier and he's credited a new band for bringing a tougher sound to his next album, which he's finished writing.Blunt polished off a world tour last November and has reportedly been spending the interim writing songs to follow up his 2004 debut 'Back To Bedlam'. He's heading into an LA studio to record, with a release date mooted for the tail end of 2007.
He's hinted that the new material has a "good '70s feel to it". He's recording with the band who have been touring with him for the last two years, saying they are giving the new songs "a bit of grit and edge that perhaps wasn't there when I was doing it on my own."
'Back To Bedlam' has sold around 11 million copies, mostly on the back of that ubiquitous single, so Blunt must be desperately channelling his muse for a equally successful song.
