Teeth & Tongue, the brainchild of New Zealand born, Melbourne based musician Jess Cornelius has just released a free download of brand new single " The Party Is You" and is back on familiar stomping grounds for a tour.
If Cornelius' influences (metronomic drumming of The Scientists and the chameleon-pop powers of David Bowie) are anything to go by you can bet that whatever she produces is going to be good.
Having just returned from a bunch of successful shows in the Big Apple, Cornelius and band members Marc Regueiro-McKelvie and Damian Sullivan, will play a set of brand new, unreleased material full of obtuse drum machine rhythms, guitars that sound like synths and synths that sound like guitars, all washed over with the distinctive voice of their founder at gigs around Sydney and Melbourne in order to celebrate the release of the single " The Party Is You". Which, incidentally comes with an entertaining albeit embarrassing deja vu like (for me anyways) video. Of the video Cornelius reveals the following;
"I put a call out on Twitter to see if anyone would be up for making us a free video, and Alifeleti was one of the directors who put their hand up. Originally I thought the weird drunk girl in the clip would be me, but luckily we found someone else to do it so I didn't have to. The main idea was for her to be trying to get random strangers to dance with her. It morphed into her getting kicked out of lots of bars and parties, but I think she's still endearing."
