Hurricane Sandy has devastated lives and livelihoods and this being a website dedicated to music and the people that make it, play it and share it, we want to alert punters everywhere to the plight of NY's Norton Records, fine purveyors of music.
Thousands of vinyl products including heaps of 45's were damaged in the label's warehouse in Red Hook when it was flooded as a result of hurricane Sandy.
These kids have been in business 31 years and provided the world with access to some of the most amazing music ever recorded. Owners Miriam Linna, ex-drummer for the Cramps and the Zantees, and her husband Billy Miller have received help from lots of volunteers who have assisted in trying to salvage as much of the vinyl as possible by taking it from waterlogged sleeves and carefully drying, cleaning and re-sleeving in dry covers. However there is still lots of work to be done.
If you are in the U.S and are keen to help out, you can contact the good folks at Norton records at 917-671-7185.
The Norton website states the following ; Thanks to all who have checked in offering concern for us here at Norton Records during Hurricane Sandy.
