Award-winning Melbourne five-piece Augie March have signed a record deal with Jive/Zomba in the United States.
The literate indie troubadours join an interesting array of artists in the stable, including Justin Timberlake, Dre, OutKast, Tool, Pink, Bullet For My Valentine, Usher and R. Kelly. The deal will see the band's critically acclaimed third album, 'Moo, You Bloody Choir', released in the world's biggest musical market.
We spoke to Augie March's drummer Dave Williams last week about the band's US prospects. He explained, "We're hoping to go there soon. We're hoping to get a release over there in the middle of the year, and get over there and do some promotion. Maybe we'll tie in some recording there later in the year."
The band recorded part of 'Moo, You Bloody Choir' at Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco.
And how is the new material coming along for the follow-up to the Australian Music Prize-winning 'Moo, You Bloody Choir'?
"We haven't started any pre-production for the fourth record yet," Williams said. "Glenn (Richards, vocalist) is probably thinking about it more than anyone else."
