The Sando's new owner is none other than Tim Northeast owner of The Corner Hotel in Richmond, Melbourne. The Corner has a long standing reputation for providing Melbourne audiences with the best local and international live music pretty much every day of the week all year long.
Anyone following the story of embattled Sandringham Hotel owner Tony Townsend and his fight to save the Sando from financial woes will understand that the whole point of saving the Sando was so that live music could continue as it has done for ( nearly) all time without the building being turned into residential apartments with paper thin walls or a funky hipster retail hangout. Happily, neither of those fates are likely with new owner Tim Northeast at the helm, although stranger things have happened.... Northeast has not made any comment on the purchase thus far.
