Another live music venue is due to bite the dust at the end of this month as developers move in to demolish the 150 year old building that hosts a live music venue.
Zac Coligan, owner of live music venue The Jade Monkey located in Twin Street Adelaide has been looking for somewhere to move his venue since news of the demolition of his building was announced in order to make way for a new hotel development.
Like most smaller live music venues the Jade Monkey provides an important stage and support vehicle to young bands and musicians.
According to Mr Coligan he is happy with the support from Adeliade council and the State Goverment thus far. In February the State government began negotiations with the developers in order to try and save the venue. More recently the Adelaide City Council and Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood have put together a live music planning team in order to assist.
Despite the fact that there are only seven days of the month remaining for some kind of goverment intervention that would allow the bar to continue operating Mr Coligan has stated, " I'm still hopeful because it's not over yet."
