Whether you are a band or solo musician, a children’s entertainer, community group, stall holder, trader or have an event or activity that you’d like to showcase, entries for the 2013 St Kilda Festival are now open.
Since its inception in 1980, the St Kilda Festival has evolved from a two-day street party to a nine-day event, spanning various venues and locations across the entire St Kilda precinct.
The 2013 Festival commences on Saturday 2 February with a showcase of music from Australia’s leading Indigenous artists as part of Yalukit Willam Ngargee: People Place Gathering - a welcoming event by and for the local Indigenous community. This is followed by a seven-day program of Live N Local music, visual arts, street performance, film, poetry and comedy from 3-9 February.
Live N Local: 3-9 February 2013 The Live N Local program will offer a tops week of entertainment with a bunch of local bands playing at local venues. The popular program provides a platform for local musicians from all genres to join the week of St Kilda festivities. In order to be eligible to play in the Live N Local program, at least one of your members must live, work or study in the City of Port Phillip. The 2013 Live N Local program will have more opportunities than ever for community participation with an increased program and all new places to play.
New Music Stage: Festival Sunday, Sunday 10 February 2013 Hailed as one of the highlights of St Kilda Festival, the New Music Stage is back again offering the best emerging talent a chance to play at one of Australia’s best known festivals. Ten bands will be chosen to play on the New Music Stage and the crowd favourite will win $5,000 and osome other cool stuff that is not identified on the media release. What have you got to lose?
