There's a bunch of news regards Gotye, so we are gonna pack a punch and give it to you on one king hit.
Gotye returns to Australia with a string of shows in December for punters in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane and will be the first and only Australian shows this year since topping the charts and knocking down numerous records around the world. There will be no further shows announce, however you can look forward to seeing Bertie Blackman and PVT as supports for the shows. PVT are one of the most challenging and fascinating bands to emerge from Australia in the past decade. The Sydney three-piece were selected by Brian Eno to feature on the inaugural Luminous Festival in 2009 & returned to Vivid LIVE in 2012. The music produced by PVT crosses wide terrain of electronica, jazz, improvised rock and beyond; the Sydney 3-piece has garnered widespread acclaim across Europe and North America.
Singer songwriter Bertie Blackman will release " Pope Innocent X" her long-awaited follow-up to 2009’s acclaimed Secrets and Lies which won Best Independent Release in the 2009 ARIA awards and the AIR Award for Breakthrough Independent Artist. Pope Innocent X contains 11 tracks of visual, evocative storytelling blended with electrifying sonic tales and other worldly, dark dares. It’s a mix all Blackman’s own, as she forges into brand new musical territory yet again, with amazing results.
In other news Wally de Backer there is much to report relating to all things video. The now-iconic video for 'Somebody' has been nominated for two US MTV Video Awards, in both the Best Video and Best Editing Award (for director Natasha Pincus).
Check out the latest video from Gotyes new radio single 'Save Me', which comes courtesy of Piepants Animation and perfectly captures the melancholic beauty of the track. It continues Gotye's fascination with and support of the local animation scene. Check it out below.
