Melvins Lite is the latest Melvins incarnation and even though they say it’s "lite" it is anything but. In classic Melvins-style the line-up has had a re-haul.
Featuring Melvins' King Buzzo - longest surviving and only original member left. Dale Crover - long standing drummer and part time guitar player. And last, but not least, Trevor Dunn. They've swapped current bass player Jarred Warren for the bass extraordinaire of Mr. Bungle and Fantomas fame. Dunn is no stranger to the Melvins, however, having played in and out of Melvins collaborations and line-ups for years.
The finished product of this like-minded experiment is "Freak Puke" - ten ripping tracks to keep the ears of all Melvins fans buzzing. There's an equally engaging balance for those who prefer the the heavy handed, early- 90s Melvins thrashing boy-brashedness in tracks like 'Freak Puke' and 'Worm Farm Waltz' and those who have been hauled in to the sonic wizardry of later freak/psych-sounds will be absorbed by album
opener 'Mr. Rip Off' and tracks like 'Baby, Won't You Weird Me Out'.
Fuse has recently added IPECAC Records to its roster and with that agreement punk/metal innovators the Melvins come on board. FREAK PUKE is out June 8 through FUSE.
