Taylor Hawkins, thumper for the Foo Fighters has been cast in the role of Iggy Pop in the planned CBGB's movie.
Thus far it seems that Hawkins is the only musician to be cast as a musician in the movie based on legendary venue CBGB's. Other actors previously announced to participate are Alan Rickman, Malin Akerman, Joel David Moore, Stana Katic and Rupert Grint of Harry Potter fame.
The movie will tell the story of CBGB's owner Kristal (played by Rickman) and his passion for the N.Y venue that originally hosted country, bluegrass and blues musicians and eventually became famous for local acts such as Talking Heads,The Ramones,Television, Blondie, The Dictators, The Heartbreakers and The Patti Smith Group to name but a few.
The production for CBGB movie will get underway on June 25th.
