Country legend Merle Haggard has penned a song in honour of Hillary Clinton.
Simply dubbed 'Hillary', Haggard reportedly wrote the song after observing Clinton as she campaigned. He has finally recorded it after friends told him it would be a hit. Even Clinton's advisors have contacted him, apparently urging him to release the song.Haggard spoke to Billboard, noting, "Never before in history has there ever been a woman anyone seriously thought to be a possible candidate for president. A couple of women in the past had that in mind but never had a chance to win."
The lyrics to 'Hillary' are said to include the lines, "This country needs to be honest/This country needs to be large/Something like a big switch of gender/Let's put a woman in charge." Hopefully when the song is released we'll see whether Haggard thinks Clinton has more going for her than just her gender.
