They're from Ireland, they play rhythm and blues and they have recently released their first E.P ‘Into The Parlour’ which showcases their ability to boil the blues and let it bubble over into a greasy rock n roll stew on your stovetop. They are The Cold 100.
Sometimes some great material from north of the equator slips under the radar. The Cold 100 is one of those bands that slipped under my radar down here in Oz. In the next couple of weeks I'll be showcasing some great bands, old and new that you may not ordinarily come by, unless you are looking for them.
The Cold 100 started out in 2007 when Simon Delaney (singer) & Mark Walsh (guitarist) started writing songs together, having discovered that they weren't the only two people in Dublin who listened to Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. The boys decided to electrify their sound and saddled up with bassist George Forsyth Jr. and drummer Vinny Keogh to provide a grunty blues rhythm.
The band released their first single " Red Headed Woman" in 2009. Known for their awesome live shows, here they are playing "Red Headed Woman" in 2010 and Fibber Magees in Dublin.
Following on from the first single came the digitally released single ‘It Ain’t Easy’at the end of 2010. It's a monster check it.
The Cold 100 hit paydirt in October 2011 with the release of " New Stories "as a free download, which grabbed the attention of radio and music fans across Ireland. "New Stories"simmers along and is just as sticky, gooey and dirty as molasses mixed with mud. Delicious.
'Into The Parlour' is a four track E.P released in 2011, and leads with the single "Mr Westcoast Man." The E.P has been described as a "masterpiece" by rockindustry.co.uk and "music that reawakens the part of you that fell in love with guitar driven music" by the ChewYourOwnFat music blog. It's available on CD (only from Tower Records and Freebird Records in Dublin) and download.Click the link to purchase http://thecold100.bigcartel.com/
