Former Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins has announced his intentions to represent his country in the Eurovision Song Contest.
The frazzled rock star will perform a duet with Berverlie Brown, according to the BBC, although they make no mention of what song he will sing.He will be competing against washed up hacks Brian Harvey (ex-East 17), Liz McClarnon (ex-Atomic Kitten) and Big Brovaz for the chance to represent England in the notoriously tacky singing competition.
The final decision will be made on a TV show broadcast on BBC One called Making Your Mind Up, where the finalists will fight it out for a spot in Helsinki.
If you have any doubts on 32 year old Hawkins' ability to win the competition, just look back a year to last year's competition, where Finnish band Lordi brought the Arockalypse onto Athens and thundered away with first prize.
If that's not shocking enough for you, then remember previous winners Abba, who went on to become one of the most successful acts in history. Other contestants in the past have included Celine Dion and Bucks Fizz.
The BBC recently confirmed that former Smiths frontman Morrissey will not take part in the 2007 competition.
