The Herald Sun has reported that Federal Treasurer Wayne Swan is channeling Bruce through the song "Land of Hope and Dreams" in order to get through budget time.
No stranger to commenting on politics through music and the odd interview, Springsteen reportedly told German Magazine Fur Sie recently that " "U.S. policy is a failure. I am very angry", urging Americans "to do something against senseless war operations, economic crisis and social injustice".
Swan obviously isn't American, but why not take up Bruce's challenge to do something? The Wrecking Ball album track "Land of Hope and Dreams" is a real anthem. I can understand how it would be a powerful tool with which to get revved up about the delivery of a Federal budget. Interestingly the song talks about faith being rewarded, regardless of who you are. I guess we'll see which parts of society have the most or least faith tonight when Swan delivers the Federal Budget to Parliment at 7.30pm
