The L.A coroners department has officially announced that Whitney Houstons death was the result of "drowning and effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use."
The "manner" of death was ruled as accidental. Atherosclerotic heart disease is a condition that refers to plaque build up in major arteries hardening the arteries and other organs. It can lead to stroke, heart attack and death. Though not the main cause of death, the condition aggravated the actual cause which was drowning. The toxicology report also identified the presence of Cocaine and metabolites that contributed to the death. Also identified in the tox report were Marijuana, Alprazolam (Xanax), Cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) and Diphenhydramine (Benadryl), these did not contribute to Houstons death.
