"Kraftwerk -- Retrospective 12345678," will open at MOMA in New York and feature one performance each evening of one of the groups full length albums commencing on April 10 2012 with "Autobahn" and wrapping it up on April 17th with "Tour De France".
The only orginal member performing is founding member Ralf Hütter who formed Kraftwerk with Florian Schneider in 1970. This will be superfluous to the performances as Kraftwerk have continually emphasised the need to remove the appearance of human involvement from their music.
Kraftwerk are best known as pioneers in the field of electronic music and the revolutionary sound they created in the 1970's using strictly electronic instrumentation. They have also been credited with inspiring musicians of all genres from new wave bands like Human League and Depeche Mode to hip hop giant Grandmaster Flash, to lord of funk George Clinton.
Check out the clip below to see why Kraftwerk are the Godfathers of Electronic music.
