As has been widely reported today, Chris Cornell spoke to the gathering crowd in front of the Soundgarden stage at the Big Day Out about the music coming from a neighbouring stage, saying "there's children playing music there, retarded children, retarded as in held back. There's no other word for it." The music he was referring to was Kanye West's performance.
Cornell has been qucik to jump onto Twitter today to explain his words;
"My comments @ BDO were directed solely at inadequate tour production," the lead singer explained before adding that "Kanye had nothing to do with it!" The Seattle-born musician ended his tweet by declaring, "We love him."
Thank goodness that has been sorted. I am sure I would not be Robinson Crusoe in admitting that I was terribly worried about strained relations between Cornell and Kanye. Not.....
