Over the weekend their has been much coverage on The Boss, his new album and a video filmed in Asbury Park N.J. Thought I would collate all the relevant info into one package so ya'll at-a-glance informed.
The big news everyone is talking, writing and blogging about is that Springsteens latest album is the angriest ever! Hell, it must be one angry album....Bruce has always channelled his anger about social injustice, economics and politics through his music and I can't see what all the fuss is about now. You think about the lyrical content of " Jackson Cage", "Something In the Night" etc. etc.. (I could go on for hours.) It is the articulation of the anger that makes the music powerful and accessible to the masses. This has been the genius of Springsteen for the last 40 years. Unless Bruce has done a complete about face and is now channelling the likes of the Sex Pistols (overtly angry young men with something to say best conveyed with anger) we can be sure of an angry album articulated beautifully and intelligently by the man that does it best.
The new album has also been described as veering into different textures, electronic percussion, with influences ranging from hip-hop to Irish folk and very rock and roll. Once again nothing new here. The last three albums have displayed similiar characteristics.
In other reports via twitter... there is a rumour flying around that the new album will be titled " Rocky Ground" and will contain studio versions of "Land of Hope and Dreams" and " Wrecking Ball". Who could say? I doubt it.
The last piece of "Bruce Juice" I have is that the band have shot a video in Asbury Park N.J. Not so "juicy" but something to look forward too !
