It seems to be the time of year for performers to cash in quickly by releasing covers albums. Why? Its easy money and a fabulous idea when songwriters block comes to stay for a holiday.
I might be a tad cynical but I am sick of hearing about well known performers taking the easy road to cash by releasing covers albums. Frankly it's pissweak.
Nora Jones famed for her jazz pop sensibilities is releasing an album of country covers with her side project "The Little Willies". With a band name like that (its supposedly named after their hero Willie Nelson) it is obvious the members are not capable of much creativity, let alone an album of originally penned songs to set the world on fire. You will find the usual country covers on this album. Dull Dull Dull. If you want to listen to songs by Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and Loretta Lynn go and purchase the orginal albums, I guarentee your listening pleasure will increase 100 fold in comparison to an album of covers, particularly when the covers are performed by the same band. Oh so uninspiring.
