Original Beach Boys Brian Wilson, Mike Love and Al Jardine will come together for the first time in decades to celebrate 50 years with an album and a tour. They will be joined by Bruce Johnston, and David Marks.
Who doesn't have a fond memory of the Beach Boys? For me the bunch of Beach Boys tapes in the old family HR were staple listening on the annual ten hour drive to visit country relatives. The Beach Boys Christmas Album has and will forever be spinning 24/7 around the house in the weeks leading up to Christmas. For all the tragedy and heartbreak endured by the Wilsons, their music has always had an innocence and shining brilliance that can never be replicated.
The genius of Brian Wilson has endured, but I can't help but wonder if 50 gigs on an International Tour will be too much for the man. Beach Boys fans around the world will be excited and thrilled to know they will have perhaps one last opportunity to see the surviving orginal members play together again. I dearly hope Brian is up to it and that his journey on this tour is a safe one. I can't help but feeling a little nervous in a grand daughterly way for the toll such a big tour might have on Brian Wilson. I'll put the wet blanket aside, wish them well and as we speak am sending out good vibrations into the cosmos for an awesome tour for The Beach Boys and their legion of fans.
The Beach Boys have already recorded several songs for their new album, to be released in 2012 by Capitol/EMI, with more tracks to be recorded before its completion. The as-yet-untitled album, the first to feature all of the band’s surviving original members in decades, is being produced by Brian Wilson and executive produced by Mike Love. Bless those Beach Boys.
