Tulsa based keyboardist and long time member of Eric Claptons band has died at the age of 60 after battling cancer.
Sims formed the Tulsa County Band and together with drummer Jamie Oldaker and bassist Carl Radle helped develop what became known as "The Tulsa Sound". The threesome orginally backed and collabortated with Clapton on his 74 album 461 Ocean Boulevard and ended up staying for 9 years.
After a 10-year break from music, Sims released his only solo album, Within Arm's Reach, in 2008. Clapton dedicated his December 10th show in Tokyo to his late friend. Sims died on the 8th of December 2011.
