Singer for meaty alterna-rockers Grinspoon, Phil Jamieson, admitted himself into rehab.
Reports indicate that Jamieson has admitted himself into Sydney's Odyssey House following family and friends' concern over his addiction to the amphetamine "ice".Longtime friend and manager Gregg Donovan offered a statement on their website, saying in part, "Everybody in the Grinspoon camp & his family are very supportive of Phil's movements in getting himself into rehab, and can't wait to have him back on board for the next phase of the bands career and his life."
The next phase will be the release of their fifth album, 'Alibis And Other Lies', that Grinspoon have been working on for the last few months. Currently their website consists of a countdown clock (indicating the album will be out early May), a link to their myspace, and the rest of the screen filled with footage of Jamieson in the studio.
As of the start of February, the band stated that the "11 or 12 track" album is almost complete and they've begun on artwork. It was recorded in part at Sydney's Electric Avenue studios, who are also responsible for You Am I's 'Convicts' and The Vines' 'Vision Valley'.
