Plans to release an album based around vocal tracks recorded by Freddie Mercury before his death in 1991 have been scrapped by Brian May and Roger Taylor. There is however, an upside!
According to an article published in "Ultimate Classic Rock" Brian May and Roger Taylor have scrapped the idea of building a new Queen album around Freddie's vocal tracks recorded prior to 1991. According to Roger Taylor "“I’ve got to tell you: there won’t be an album. “There’s just not enough. And the last thing I want to do is have a sort of barrel-scraping exercise.”
In another statement Roger Taylor did indicate that there are at least two recorded tracks worth working on that Freddie recorded with Michael Jackson. “There’s a couple of great tracks that Freddie recorded with Michael Jackson. Brian and I are working on them and they are good."
“At some point they will surface, I think, when we feel it’s a good moment. I don’t really want to ride any sort of wave there. That will be probably later some point next year.”
So there is a date for your diaries..."some point next year"...keep your eyes and ears open!
