Michael Jackson’s physician, Dr. Conrad Murray is being held on suicide watch, according to TMZ and E! News reportage, Dr. Murray has been telling people he wants to kill himself.
However, his defence lawyer, Nareg Gourjian, denies this is the case. “Dr. Conrad Murray is distressed for being in jail and for losing his dear friend Michael Jackson, but he would never commit suicide,” Nareg Gourjian continues. “I have been visiting him almost every day and, under the circumstances, he’s doing as well as one can while incarcerated. Any statement that he’s going to kill himself is categorically false”.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore tells E! News that Murray is on medical ward of the L.A. County Men's Central Jail, but not because jail officials believe he's a risk to himself, it's just to make sure he's protected while he's being processed.
Apparently, Dr. Murray “didn't think he would be found guilty", said his media representative Miranda Sevcik to E! News and that’s why Murray is "obviously distraught" in his current environment.
The 58-year-old physician was found guilty of the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson earlier this month with sentencing scheduled for November 29 2011.
