Organisers confirm rumours that the Soundwave Revolution festival has been cancelled.
The administrators on the Soundwave Revolution ‘Community’ section of their website have posted a brief statement.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of the Revolution Festival.
“Many of the festival bands will still be coming to Australia in that time period and team up to bring you some very special shows. These will include multi band/mini festival line-ups in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. We will be announcing these events in the next 7 days.
“Tickets purchased online will be refunded automatically as soon as it can be processed. If you purchased from an outlet, refunds will be available next week from point of purchase.”
Rumours were triggered earlier today by the drummer for US glam metal mockers Steel Panther, who tweeted that his management told him the event was cancelled.
Organiser AJ Maddaqh said on Nova that a co-headliner for the next announcement "had to pull out" and "we didn't want to go with an incomplete line-up".
He reassured fans that a lot of the bands listed on the line-up are still coming.
He said credit card purchases of tickets will be automatically refunded, and those who purchased in store will be able to get refunds instore.
We'll keep you up to date on the proposed "mini-festivals" that are planned.
