Even Australia’s favourite rockers The Living End and Amy Winehouse can’t unseat Adele on this week’s ARIA charts.
It’s getting absurd. Adele’s 21 remains on the top of the chart again this week.
The Living End’s latest album The Ending Is Just The Beginning Repeating could only manage a number three debut, also beaten by Lady Gaga’s Born This Way.
That said, it was a great week for Australian releases and, obviously, Amy Winehouse.
PNAU’s Soft Universe debuted at number 13, The John Butler Trio’s Live At Red Rock popped in at 22 and The Ten Tenors’ Double Platinum entered at 24.
The Cold Chisel re-releases did nicely: East re-entering at 19, The Last Stand at 39, Swingshift at 42, and Circus Animals at 46.
Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black came in at number 6, the Frank/ Back To Black double-pack debuted at 18 and Frank by itself re-entered the chart at 23.
Gotye’s Like Drawing Blood re-entered the chart at 32 on the back of the success of his new single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ with Kimbra, which has hit number five on the singles chart.
Enrique Iglesias’ Euphoria popped back in at 37.
There was inevitable movement on the chart with all the new/re-entries. Hillsong Church dropped 15 places to number 35, the same for City And Colour to 38, Adam Harvey slumped from 19 to 44 in his second week.
