Björk’s ongoing Biophilia project grows with the release of her app, two singles, a video clip and even more.
Icelandic princess Björk is going all out with her latest effort Biophilia, so much so that calling it an ‘album’ just doesn’t do it justice.
Sure, there’s music, but she’s officially released the iPod, iPhone and iPad app for it today, as well as the first two singles ‘Cosmogony’ and ‘Crystalline’, on the iTunes store.
The first clip from the album for ‘Crystalline’ was released today, directed by legendary clipmaker and now Hollywood director Michel Gondry.
She’s also noted that there will be five physical versions of the albums: jewel-case and digipak CD, on vinyl, and as two custom-made versions with cloth-covered “manual”, chrome-plated tuning forks, and a hinged oak case.
She’ll be bringing the project to eight international cities for six-week residencies following the June and July launch at the Manchester Festival, featuring an amazing range of instruments and sets.
And there’s a full-length documentary in the works, following the creation of Biophilia to the Manchester launch.
Don’t get too overwhelmed. Just watch the ‘Crystalline’ clip below. The full Biophilia album will be released online and in stores on September 23.
